Adventure Time at Whites Creek!
By Justice Howard, Jyzy Stanton, Daniel Yarlett, and Khaleel Dye

On Wednesday, June 3, 2015, Adventure Works™ came to Whites Creek High School and the experience was fun but tough because you had to think your way through the exercises. For example, during the “The Creek” game each person got a foam tile and the floor represented a creek. Each tile had to have human contact during the game, and our Adventure Works representative would take our tiles away if they lost their human contact. As the leader, Daniel Yarlett led his team through the creek, but in the end, Ms. Gleaves got our tiles taken away when she gave us bad advice to just jump over the creek. The jump rope game was a math riddle. The riddle was easy to decipher, but it was difficult to execute because not everyone was paying attention or following directions. The game that required the most amount of team work was the ball-n-rope game. During the exercise, a team has to move a ball connected by ropes without letting the ball fall. Khaleel Dye and his fellow teammates dropped the ball a lot, but Daniel and Jyzy Stanton’s team dropped the ball only once. Justice Howard and his classmates did different activities such as the land mine game where each student had to choose a partner; and then while one partner was blindfolded and walking through a maze of squeaky toys, the other partner had to guide the blinded partner through the maze. Although having Adventure Works™ come to Whites Creek was fun, it would have been more fun to actually go to the Adventure Works™ compound to do activities – such as zip lining, bungee jumping, and rock climbing – there.

Jyzy Stanton is a junior at Whites Creek High School in the Alternative Energy, Sustainability, and Logistics Academy. He wants to go to college in Alabama, at the University of Alabama.

Khaleel Dye is a junior at Antioch High School Digital Arts and Design. He wants to go to Full Sail University in Tampa, Florida.

Daniel Yarlett is a junior at Whites Creek High School in the Community Health. He wants to study entrepreneurship and business at Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania.

Justice Howard is a sophomore at Whites Creek High School in the Education and Law Academy. He wants to study criminal justice at TSU.
